Extreme Anti-Choice Statewide Ticket
Right-wing candidate for governor Rob Astorino has assembled a team of candidates to advance his personal ultra-conservative anti-woman agenda statewide.
Astorino’s hand-picked team is marching in lockstep – all promising (in almost the exact same words) to oppose the 10-point Women’s Equality Act, and calling the reproductive component “ghastly,” “hideous,” “bad for women” and “unnecessary”.
The truth is that New York State’s current reproductive legislation does not give women the full constitutionally recognized protection of Roe v. Wade and it does not incorporate the medical advances that have been made in reproductive health over the last 44 years. New York women deserve reproductive legislation that does both, and the vast majority of New Yorkers want the reproductive component of the Women’s Equality Act passed into law. But Astorino and his gang don’t and so they work to mislead the public about the Women’s Equality Act and the status of New York’s abortion rights.
The goal of this anti-choice gang is to do the damage to New York State that Astorino has done to Westchester on a much larger scale.
- In Westchester, Astorino cut funding for contraception for teens, well-baby care and sex education.
In Albany, he and his minions will be able to attack the budget line-by-line, going after all healthcare items including funding for family planning, health care and many other reproductive needs – and even ELIMINATING New York’s Health Exchanges! - In Westchester, Astorino gutted all funding to Community Health Clinics.
In Albany he’ll be able to do it on a massive statewide scale. - In Westchester, Astorino closed our mental health clinics, while opposing smart gun control legislation in Albany. No surprise, given he’s brought gun shows back to county buildings while throwing the mental health patients out of clinics and onto the streets.
In Albany, he has committed to working to overturn smart gun control legislation, and we can only imagine what he will do to our mental health patients. - In Westchester, Astorino outsourced County contracts to out-of-state companies in Florida and Tennessee; just look at who’s providing Section 8 Housing and Penitentiary Health Care and Food Services.
Imagine what he would do to statewide.
Over the next weeks we will introduce you to Astorino’s puppets as well as our pro-choice incumbents who need your support. Stay tuned!
